Painted Cards

I have been itching to paint lately. So I dug out my paints and decided to try it out as background on kraft cardstock for my next set of cards. I wanted to use my Paper Smooches flower stamps so I used green and yellow paint for the backgrounds. I painted a simple rectangle on the front of each card. I let the paint dry overnight then I stamped the flowers and sentiments on each card. They seemed rather plain at first but I wasn’t quite sure what I should do to change that so I let them sit for a few days to think on it.

I thought about painting them, after all these are my painted cards, but for some reason that just didn’t seem like the right answer. Finally I decided to use my markers to color the flowers and the sentiments. I think it was more out of convenience than anything else, but sometimes easy is good. I do like the result.

This was an experiment and I always learn something when I experiment. Next time I paint cards, I will paint on panels rather than directly on the card front. The cards warped a bit from the paint. I think painting on the panel and then attaching the panel to a card base will add more depth to the cards and help make them sturdier. I’ll let you all know how it works out!

In the mean time here are my painted cards. Let me know what you think. I always love to hear from you!
