You ARE creative. Let me inspire you!

Hello precious friends! My name is Brenda Campbell. I’m an artist, a Certified Zentangle Teacher, and a Mid Century Modern gal. I was born in the 50’s and graduated High School in the 70’s. So Mid Century Modern designs bring me back to my childhood.
What exactly is Mid Century Modern Design? It depends on who you ask. In general, it is used to describe designs that emerged after WW2 in the 1940s through the 1970s. There are lots of thoughts on why design moved in this direction, but I like to think it was a rebellion of sorts. The war brought rationing and darkness. And I see that contrasted with bright colors and simple geometric shapes of Mid Century Modern or Mid Mod designs.
During the 1960’s we experienced space travel. It captivated us and we all watched the skies at night to catch a glimpse of a satellite, or even a manned spaceship! This aspect of Mid Mod designs is what I like to call Atomic Art. And in this class, we’re drawing Atomic Angels.
In this video, we’ll draw 2 angels using tangles that have a Mid Mod feel. I have selected 5 tangles for this project, and although I do have a template for you, I prefer to draw each angel without a template. I just think hand drawing helps give each angel her own personality!
Zentangle Phi tiles measure approximately 3 x 5 inches (3.1 x 5 in or 7.9 x 12.7 cm) Please use what you have! You can even do this project in black and white. If you like to add color with another medium, feel free to use what makes you happy!
I always follow the 8 steps of the Zentangle Method, even when creating Zentangle Inspired Art. No worries, we’ll break the rules when it suits us, like using an eraser so we can get our angels to look their best!
