I am writing this post on an airplane flying home after a long week of business meetings (yes, I still have a day job). I love having Internet access on the plane, it makes the long flights more fun!
On the flight out I was reading Traci Bautista’s book Doodles Unleashed. I bought this book because I’ve seen some awesome doodles on Pinterest and well, I have no talent for doodling. I would actually say that I stink at it. I was always too embarrassed to doodle in class or in meetings because I’m so bad. I purchased Traci’s book with a hope that doodling was something that I could learn.
As I began reading I started to get excited, thinking that maybe I can create some doodles that wouldn’t be awful but I didn’t have my sketchbook with me. Then I remembered that I had an app on my iPad that I might be able to use. The app is ColorBox HD by Batsu. I played with it a bit when I first downloaded it but lost interest and almost forgot I had it. When I started doodling I immediately hated it but I was determined to keep practicing and the beauty of digital doodling is that you can just draw over what you’ve done ( no eraser mess!) Here is my first digital doodle.
I think I like it! Who knew I could doodle? Heck, if I can do it anyone can! I recommend Traci’s book for any and everyone!
Here is another doodle I created with the Holidays in mind. I like my first one better but I will keep practicing!
