Pumpkin Lights

Are you all ready for Christmas? I have to admit that I am not. Usually by now our decorations are all up and my Christmas cards are in the mail but this year I am having a hard time making the transition to the Christmas holiday. A few nights ago I was thinking that I should get the decorating done and noticed that my pumpkin candle was still sitting on my desk. The garland around the door was up and lit behind the candle. I wondered if my reluctance to complete my Christmas decorating had anything to do with feeling rushed to go from one holiday to the next. My pumpkin candle was the last Thanksgiving decoration left to put away. So in order for me to move forward, I think I have to put away the past; or in this case, I need to put the pumpkin away.

We put our (pre-lit) Christmas tree up and discovered that not all the lights are working properly. My DH Steve did the best he could and actually got most of them working but there is one strand at the top of the tree that just refuses to light. So last night we bought a new tree. I’m excited to have a new tree and hoping that excitement will help me to finish my decorating.

Before I go, I want to share another Holiday card with you. This is one I made last year but it is a favorite. I used scraps of Basic Grey patterned paper cut into squares using a punch. I punched a snowflake, covered it with a glitter glue and attached it to one of the squares with a brad. The sentiment is computer generated and the inside reads “Wishing you Peace Love and Joy this Holiday Season”. It is a simple card, but I love simple and using my scraps was an added bonus!

I hope you all have a wonderful day!
